OTI started trading 14,000 barrels a day in 2006 which has grown to more than 100,000 barrels per day in 2011. With additional third-party barrels, OTI has positioned itself as one of the biggest off takers of physical Oman crude oil.

OTI has witnessed significant growth in its paper trading volumes through its participation in the Dubai Mercantile Exchange, being one of the largest participants in the exchange. We continue to increase the size of our trading portfolio and take further advantage of the rapidly expanding crude oil market.

As a strategic partner to Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (ORPIC), OTI acts as the commercial arm of the complex and sole face in the market of the complex. OTI manages 4 million tonnes of products imports and exports annually; this includes procuring all feed stocks, blend components and trading all finished product exports for the complex.

As a result of OTI’s active participation in the marketplace and optimisation around the complex’s assets, OTI is well positioned to create additional value along the supply chain. Oman’s strategic location gives it the competitive advantage of having access to both Eastern and Western markets and hence playing a major role in the petrochemical market.

OTI has access to nearly 800,000 tonnes per annum of paraxylene and 200,000 tonnes per annum of benzene from the aromatics plant located in Sohar, Sultanate of Oman.

Additionally, the company has access to more than 1 million tonnes of per annum of methanol from the methanol plant located in Salalah, Sultanate of Oman.
